Hygiene production

The general rules of thumb are: a) 33% of your office production should come from hygiene, b) 30% to 35% of hygiene production should be from periodontal procedures, and c) hygienists should produce at least 3 times their salaries. Again, these are only general guidelines as the percentage of a practice's production that comes from hygiene will fluctuate as dentists have different treatment protocols. Ideal production for a hygienist should be based on the fee schedule in the office, adding together the actual cleaning price, x-rays, and more, and what that comes out to as an hourly amount. Open hours in hygiene should be the chief concern.
