A short call list is used for patients who agree to be called on short notice.
Patients being scheduled will be asked if they are available on short notice for any particular day or time in the event you have a change in your schedule.
If so, the scheduling coordinator makes a note on your appointment card screen.
A script for establishing this list would be: “Tom, the next ‘late day’ appointment I have is two weeks from today. If I have a change in my schedule can I call you on short notice? Great!”
Or, “The first opening on a Tuesday that I have for a cleaning is three weeks from now. Can I call you on short notice if an appointment opens up?
Make a note in the appointment screen as to when the patient will be available for a short call.
